Daventry Candidate Selected

'A' Lister and current East Midlands MEP Chris Heaton-Harris was selected as candidate for the new seat of Daventry last night. He was also on the Folkestone & Hythe shortlist, so that is now reduced to five, with Harriett Baldwin and Laura Sandys seen as the front runners.

So there is a new position open for a Eurosceptic MEP?

Congratulations and all that.

I hope once he's in Parliament he can restrain himself. I'm all for free speech and even colourful characters but he does go too far in both his politics and humour. In fact, he could be seen as a less erudite Eric Forth, so that's a void that will be filled.

Since when is Daventry a new seat? It has had some of it's voters transfered to the new South Northamptonshire constituancy I believe, but it is an existing seat, currently held by Tim Boswell.

At last. He thoroughly deserves it. Chris is one of the nicest people imaginable and he will be an excellent MP.

FYI ... It's the OLD seat of Daventry - the new designation is 'South Northamptonshire'. (Pedanticism for ever)

This is fantastic news. Chris deserves this for years of hard work exposing fraud and mismanagement in the EU. He will be an excellent MP for the people of Daventry
