Lord Levy: Don't Worry, Be Happy

An interesting email I received late last night from a correspondent...

I've just got back from Manchester where (genuinely) I've been up for the day at work. Forgot the Bolshies were there. Walking through a place called Albert Square just after 7pm and who's standing by a taxi chatting but Lord Levy in a very wide pink tie with one hand on some chap's shoulder and the other gripping his elbow. They must have had the meter on the taxi running for ages and they were having a very animated discussion about something. I didn't recognise the other chap, he was a good head taller than Levy with much less hair and fuller figured (not fat, just more of him than Levy). Levy actually looked quite chipper whereas Mr X seemed v. disgruntled and worried. All I could catch of the conversation as I strolled past was Levy telling the other man "Don't worry; it'll all be all right; don't worry" but plainly Levy was in reassurance/persuasion mode.

Didn't recognise the other man - at a pinch he could have been the man on Fawkes' sweepstake card at box E1 (if Levy is box A3 and Prescott is box C1) but it isn't a good likeness (or photograph for that matter) - E1 is the least unlike this chap, rather than being a spitting image if you follow - but I might recognise him again. If anyone wants a free leaflet about the need to join the Venezuelan revolution, please shout.

UPDATE Wed 11am: My informant now believes the person he say to be Labour's former Head of High Value Fundraising, Nick Bowes. Now that really would be interesting, if true...

And tonight a leading political journalist called me to tell me that the media are in uproar in Manchester over being banned from an event tonight at the Palace Hotel at which Lord Levy and Tony Blair entertained leading Arabs. Wouldn't have been rich Arabs, would they? Bizarrely, Lauren Booth was at the event and stormed out protesting at Lord Levy's pro Jewish stance. Not a happy ship, is it?

Last night, BBC News didn't exactly have its finest hour when John Pienaar toured the conference with a cardboard cutout of Tony Blair and a grid for his departure on his back. Delegates were then asked to stick a red dot on the date at which they;d like to see the back of Blair. The first person to be invited to stick the dot on his back was his sister-in-law, the aforementioned Lauren Booth. But unless I missed it, John Pienaar didn't actually say who she was. Ah well. Can happen to anyone.

Of course the broke (because British people don't pay into it) Labour Party has been cosying up to the money. Arab money. "We'll see ya right with your gigantic, insane, immensely insulting mosque, which will be the first thing worldwide TV viewers of the Olympics in London see.

"Don't worry."

And Mr Anshutz, no probs with the casino, man. Frankly, the Dome could have been built for such a neat project of giant gambling in Britain. We'll get all the chancers from Romania and they'll help us control it!"

Blair's yesterday's man and he will go away somewhere with that bizarre wife and bizarre family. (Why don't *any* of the children look like him? Jes' askin' is awl.)

And how creepy that Anschutz bought the equally creepy Prescott so cheap. Twenty thousand dollars' worth of western wear? For a billion dollar enterprise that will make Britain into a Mafia/Rumanian dream? He certainly got the measure of his mark.

And a defeated Britain will remain in the North Sea, a chattel of "Europe". An offshore gambling facility full of sleazy people and slot machines.

And between this obscene mosque and this obscene gambling casino, the English will not register a flicker of doubt. Yes, one or two or three columnists on the nationals, who will be shouted down as the now totally ignorantly acceptable "xenophobes" and "islamophobic racists".

Say something often enough is the key ...

Iain I was wondering if you heard Jack Straw make a huge gaffe yesterday when in an interview with the Australian ABC he said that David Cameron's 'anti americanism' was coming out. He should be challenged and forcewd to explain what he meant. I can see him squirming now.

Forgive me, but..

My pen pal list and email inbox is full of Jews who do not care for Israels policies, some even do not recognise Israels right to exist.

Just how does some one simplify this down to being pro or anti Jewish?

It is insane. It is almost as ridiculous as asking the next Muslim you meet if he or she thought 9/11 was a good thing.

In fairness the proper description of Lauren Booth leaving anywhere would include the words "stormed out" eg. "Lauren Booth stormed out of the Post Office/Tesco's/the Garden Centre".

It's just what she does and the way she does it...he said, before storming out.

So far only one politician has got it right and ha the guts to say so:

Blair Unwilling to Accept Reality of His Failed Leadership
snp
Commenting on Tony Blair's final keynote speech as party leader at the Labour Party conference, SNP leader Alex Salmond MP has criticised the Prime Minister for failing to accept the reality of his time in charge.

Mr Salmond said:

"Mr Blair is like the Bourbon's of the French Revolution: he learnt nothing and he forgot nothing.

"As he basks in the adulation of his party members, outside the conference hall the public are all too aware of the reality of Blair's Premiership. An unnecessary illegal war costing tens of thousands of lives, pensioner's savings destroyed and an economic growth rate that shows Scotland is lagging behind the rest of the UK.

"Instead of celebrating three election victories, he should be apologising to the Country for a process by which all of the bright promise of 1997 has been dissipated into the total disarray of 2006.

"All we have left from Mr Blair is a style of speaking that is infinitely superior to that of the Chancellor.

"It is simply incredible that in the week the NY Times reported that U.S intelligence has accepted the war in Iraq has made the danger of international extremism infinitely worse, the PM is still in denial about the pivotal role he played in this disastrous conflict.

"Carved on Mr Blair's tombstone will be one word: Iraq."

This is the third time in as many days I've heard begrudging praise for Salmond from unlikely sources. Has the man had a turn around?

Sense of Perspective
"Tony Blair said the world had changed in the last ten years, and I thought, 'Yes, our world has changed too'. I thought, 'Is he talking about me?'as reigned for Nine years .

This of course was someone really important . Arsene Wenger

( VERITY I also do not like this Mosque financed with Saudi Money which will be a magnet for Terrorsim across Europe .Good point)

Verity, how could we all be so blind!

It's obvious. When Jabba the Slug goes off to become garden mulsh and that nice Mr Auschwitz is forced to abandon his mega-casino project, the Dome can at last be turned towards the real, secret, long-term purpose it was really made for on behalf of all those fools inhabiting the Labour, Liberal (and, I'm sorry to say, Tory) Parties who imagine you can deal with islamicists as if they are rational people--to be a ruddy vast mosque:

London, the Istanbul of the West.

How soon before reciting the Quran is compulsory in all our schools?

NB: this is NOT a racist comment. It is a religious comment.

Hasn't Prescott just got off because there was "not sufficient basis" to investigate him? And of course that was after he admitted his own guilt.

I think Levy can be pretty relaxed.

Yes and no .In fact there is an alarming tacit support for Jihad aming normal Muslims as there is tacit supporty for the IRA in Sinn Fein ( not that tacit). The problem with this sort of banale .`Can`t we just accept that people are different ` Remark is that it dulls the ability to make clear judgements and thereby defeats the will to act . Jews are by contrast exceedingly differentiated , self critical which is not to say blameless.(Still Islamic Dafur knocks Lebanon into a cocked hat)

Would you in the 30s have been saying can`t we accept that Germans are all different and have been an appeaser. Many sensible people were for what seemed good reasons and without the personal will of Churchill an accomodation argueably might have been reached at various points with the Nazis

The Nazis were all different people Foolish Foolish Benedict.

9/11 was MEANS to an END

Even those who disagree with the MEANS support the ENDS

The ENDS are our destruction - how it is done is immaterial.

I have pondered for some time - well, a couple of days - what the blairs will do for their future if Yates of the Yard goes for Tony, and only two alternatives struck me: One, and to me the most likely, is, they'll scarper. My problem was, but where to? How will they finance themselves for the rest of their lives.

If he gets off, they can still go to the US and rake in all the money they're looking forward to with such a greedy glint in their eyes.

However, now that we see Blair has been talking to Arabs, the smoke is clearing.

Yes and no Benedict in fact there is an alarming amount of support albeit tacit for jihad activities amongst supposedly mainstream Muslims . It is not entirely dissimilar to the wide tacit support for the IRA in Northern Ireland .
A determined effort on behalf on the Islamic community would certainly make the formulation of 80 or so bombing plots ( as per other Blair) impossible
The various Jewish communities in the UK on the other hand are highly differentiated and self critical. This is not to say, of course that the activities of Jews world wide are without fault , whose are . We here must correct mainstream media imbalance, and Islamic Genocide of Blacks in the Sudan dwarfs the Lebanon but is treated like a `flood` out of nowhere.
Comparing groups of people is not easy but it must be done . Banale `We are all different ` comments dull the wits and stifle society’s ability to act. Germans were all different in the 30s and for very good reason many sensible people became appeasers refusing to acknowledge the evil that infected that country at that time . In fact without the personal will of Churchill it is likely an accommodation would have been reached at several points. Where would you have been on this one Benedict? We must make judgements about groups of people they re not all morally equal.

On the other hand the hysterical racism I see here is only a good way to make sure that no one will ever listen to you and the claim that it isn’t racist its religious will not wash ( refer Jews this distinction is not meaningful). Enoch Powell’s political suicide is the example to bear in mind . What an arrogant and useless man

Benedict you are a well meaning but foolish person and I sometimes think that your type does more harm than almost any other.
Think on your faults Benedict , they are many .

Dear House of Saud, I a Christian humbly and sincerely submit that the Dome should be a mosque. Without the casino, of course. The Dome roof's lifespan is only 11 more years, and a magnificent gold-covered mosque dome would be visible for miles and miles and be far more beautiful than this tent-thing. I live not far away and would love to be able to hear the muezzin. This part of London has far too few mosques, and it is only 20-30 minutes' journey from the London City airport - most convenient for your Highnesses, should they ever wish to visit on your way to Newmarket.

Arrogant maybe, but given his intellect he'd have hardly been humble.
Useless never, he was an excellent constituency MP. As is the privately educated non socialist nu labourite who holds sway now.

So no matter what remark that anyone might make that could possibly be construed as disagreeing with Islam is racist?

But Islam is not a race! Therefore to attack it, however mildly or violently, rightly or wrongly, accurately or inaccurately, as Islam cannot possibly be racist.

Get real!

THis distinction is made by racists usually , but if you prefer the word predudiced . Ok . You are prejudiced .
The balanced and correct attitude is the one outlined by me . No more no less.

Bliar, at a time when the middle east was at probably it's worst ever, made Lord Levy his special envoy to the middle east...now Levy is not jewish, but has a £7 million home in Israel and lives much of the time there. So Bliar sent someone who would reasonably be expected to be biased to be his special envoy...so yes, it stinks and is one of the worst pieces of either incompetence or arrogance on Bliars part.

But they are all innocent until proven otherwise...now hang the guilty bastards.

I don'y know what distinctions may be made by racists, but (a) I'm not one and (b) Islam is not and cannot possibly ever be a race.

I would imagine that there are members of every 'race' (I don't even like the idea that humanity is divided up that way) on earth who are Muslims, so the idea that criticising Islam is racist is just risable.

And the notion that criticising Islam, or the Labour Party, or the Arctic Monkeys, or the price of fish is ipso facto 'prejudiced' is (a) preposterous and (b) a prejudiced remark in itself.

I suspect this sort of preposterous and nonsensical knee-jerk reaction by Muslims to any sort of criticism is evidence of some sort of deep-seated, probably unconscious, group inferiority complex.

And now prejudice is wrong? Maybe it can be a crime? I'm guilty for sure because I'm prejudiced against people who believe they are balanced and correct.

`Arrogant maybe, but given his intellect he'd have hardly been humble`

The notion that Enoch Powell was towering intellect ( because he knew Greek) has much in common with the suggestion that Clive Anderson is funny because,` he used to be a lawyer you know`.
Neither of these accomplishments is beyond an adequately gifted and well educated man, given time place and inclination.
Clive Anderson is dull and I am yet to see any evidence of Enoch Powells supposed gifts . ( Have you any ?)

What I do know is that by his hubris and tatty racist propaganda he dished the respectable right for years. Its time he was forgotten so we can speak without fear again

Well, you introduced the Aussie but I'd agree he is dull, but then I find Lenny Henry tedious and Bernard Manning funny.

As I said before, Enoch was a good constituency MP. I didn't know that he knew Greek; he always used English when he spoke to me. He also made brigadier at a very young age. I never thought much of officers, but brigadier isn't available to the thick ones at any age.

As for the 'respectable right' just who are they exactly? I know where 'right' is - just next to nu labour, but what is 'respectable'?
