I note that it seems he's starting to lose his hair (judging from the picture on his website).
And we know what happened to the local MP when he started to lose his hair....

That is a totally pathetic comment. George Hollingbery is a decent bloke who fought a tough fight against Oaten last time. To try to make a cheap joke just detracts from the fact that the selectorate have picked a good local non a lister who deserves the opportunity he now has. Good luck George

I didn't want to detract anything from Mr Hollingbery or what the selectorate of Meon Vally did. So try to calm down before starting to insult people. Maybe the tory are not the nasty party anymore, but some of their activists didn't get it yet.

Of course you would never see a cheap joke against a Labour or Lib Dem politician on this site.

White, male, middle-aged, balding and an ex-stockbroker. And they say the Tories are modernising?

Surely the Tories aren't ready for government if they keep picking identikit candidates? Of course, Labour MPs all seem to have trade union and local council backgrounds, but they have more women and a wider range of ethnic backgrounds.

Judging by George Hollingbery's periodic good natured and self-deprecating contributions to politicalbetting.com, I doubt if he would be in the least bit offended by Andrea's remarks; indeed I suspect he would find them rather amusing.

He's going to lose again to the Lib Dems in Meon Valley...

Andrea, I'm most insulted. It's an old picture and these days I've got plenty of hair . .

20 miles up the Great North Road that's an insult all by itself.

I'm pleased to see that the party is still thinking straight and can pick somebody who's not on the A List, who is a man, who doesn't rely on positive discrimination, who's actually been to the constituency more than once... and one gathers Mr Hollingberry has a sense of humour. Splendid stuff!

George Hollingbery may be a "White, male, middle-aged, balding and an ex-stockbroker.", but he is also an outstanding councillor who has led the Tories to take Winchester from the Lib Dems. He fought a good fight against Oaten, but should win Meon Valley.

Interesting that he beat 3 A-listers, but he was the msot local of the 4.

I assume that Flick Drummond will get the nod in Winchester.

I have heard only good things about Hollingbery; charitable and generous as well as being bright and industrious.

The lunatics who put celebriddy soap actors and token types on the A List ahead of the Hollingberys should eat some humble pie for their Sunday lunch.

Well done Meon Valley; count on my support come election time.

Who said that Flick Drummond will get the nod in Winchester? There is another candidate there, also with the name George, who could win the seat given the opportunity.

I can assure you that NOBODY will "get the nod" in Winchester. There is everything to play for for each of the five candidates.

Congratulations to George Hollingbery....but I'm not sure about the practice of hanging about the internet reading about oneself......could lead to more hair loss/insanity?

I am really pleased for George Hollingbury; he is a charming guy and a good campaigner. I have no doubt he will be an excellent MP.

Is the Tory predicted majority of 1900 threatened by the news that ex Tory PPC and Meon Valley resident, Graeme Quar, will fight the seat as an Independent? Will this cause more harm to GH or to the Liberal Democrats? Graeme Quar has a web site and more hair. (So far as I know he has never been a stockbroker).
