Excellent Examples of Spin: No 94

"Do not forget, together with the Chinese, Albanians make up on quarter of the world's population."

Right-wing agitator catches "Moscow Flu" whilst on an overtly political trip to the city & heads home to infect various members of & visitors to the M-of-all-P. Sounds like something out of 'Spooks'...

You want spin?
Four marines have just died in Afghanistan.
How is this reported on BBC News bulletins?
"Gordon Brown expressed sympathy today for....".
The BBC website also leads with a grinning Gordon meeting "the lads" in Afghanistan.
Am I the only person in the country, apart from my wife, who thinks the BBC are using name placement techniques; ie Beginning news items with the prime ministers name, always in a positive conext?
Sort 'em out Dave when you get into number 10.

The Nationalist government in South Africa controlled TV in a big way. Every single English language news bulletin for years commenced with The Prime Minister said today...." The Afrikaans bulletins opened with the same story.

We now see Brown at the beginning of most Sky bulletins, supposedly in an ad showing that Sky comes before the Beeb. He says something trite and then is passed on to the Beeb.

How's this for spin. The American Civil Liberties Union, (ACLU) during the Bush administration made the attached video (at the end) which is now being attributed to Barack Obama!

Ordering a Pizza in 2012
This is absolutely hilarious, but the scary part about it is that it's probably not too far away from being reality, providing obama has his way with socialized medicine, and digitizing medical records.
Want to know how to order a pizza in 2012? Click the link and see.
Turn up the volume, listen closely and watch the pointer!

Too bad that the original comment was against the Bush's administration "Patriot Act" which gave government the ability to mine into personal data while allegedly looking for terrorists.
Now it's been "spun" into a problem with our best ever president!

It just all depends on how you look at some things...
Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California ,
was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that
Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for
horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry
Reid share this common ancestor.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in
Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this
inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison
1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton
detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about
their great-great uncle.
Harry Reid:

Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical
sketch for her genealogy research:
"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business
empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and
intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted
several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to
resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a
vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In
1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his
honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed."

NOW THAT's how it's done, Folks!
That's real POLITICAL SPIN
