Quote of the Day: How Did We Come To This?

"Iain Dale is the Grandaddy of this political blog thing. I love his blog. I read it every day. It is witty, wry, challenging, on point, informative, entertaining and...as every blog should be...original. Iain, if you were my MP, I would be falsely registering myself as many times as I could just so I could vote for you as many times as possible at the next election."

Mrs Dale, Iain's Mum HowDidWeComeToThisBlog

Reminds me of the old Not the Nine O'Clock News skit of POINTS OF VIEW. "Dear Barry Took, I love the BBC so much I would happily pay the licence fee ten times over!" Yes, you'll think my ego has gone mad, but I tell you, when I read that on someone's blog it made all the abuse I have had over the past week worthwhile. Almost. I've no idea who this blogger is. I had never heard of his blog until a friend pointed it out today. Thanks for the kind words, even if he goes on to be slightly critical of me in the rest of the blogpost! I've had worse.

PS May I just say how wonderful it was to see David Davis standing up for liberty, free speech, democracy and sanity today.

Dank u wel, David

I agree with howdidwecometothis. I found your blog a couple of years ago via Finklestein's blog at The Times. I've since become a blog junkie, but your is one of the first one is look for still. I was off sick from work for a long time and blogs got me through the boredom. Back at work now and suffering blog withdrawal!

That was an enjoyable read. Good stuff. I don't think it was too harsh on you. It was a flattering critique in many ways.

Yes I agree with the blogger - well except for the witty, wry, challenging, on point, informative, entertaining and original bits.

But otherwise your really great .... and so is your mum. :-)

Oh, come on. He's only about 118 - not that old!

Yep, your views are food for thought. Don't always agree with you (and you can sometimes come over like a bit of a smart-arse... but who doesn't from time-to time?), but on the whole, you do a fair fist of this blog-interweb-thingy.

Does your ego really require regular massaging? I am a regular reader of your blog, and even occasionally agree with what you have written.

Just discovered you are a West Ham United fan. That gives you two reasons to dislike me as aside from being a socialist I am also a football referee!

Warelane, I love all my readers. Apart from Chris Paul, of course.

You're not Phil Dowd, are you?!

No, I am Julian Ware-Lane, Labour Parliamentary Candidate and Aston Villa fan (and a Shrimper by default).

... and I wish your site would show my real name rather than my wordpress ident!
